ATLAS

Methodology

A transparent path from public data to a published page.

Data sources

Atlas uses Eurostat datasets with their original units and provenance.

Geographic scope

Country comparisons use the 27 EU member states when the dataset supports them.

Story discovery

Python calculates rankings, changes, long-term movement, distribution gaps, outliers and records.

Interestingness and size bias

Interestingness combines magnitude, rarity, recency and data quality. Absolute metrics receive a size-bias penalty when a result only reflects country scale.

Fact checking

Important values, units, rankings and changes are reproduced from processed data before publication.

Opportunity Engine

Current-spike signals from Google Trends are separate demand signals, never statistical facts. No current spike does not mean no demand.

Publication Gate

Pages need sufficient facts, comparisons, provenance, chart support, confidence and original value. New publication is limited to three per run.
